Hi Everyone,

As we bring to you the hottest stories in Corporate Social Media we cannot help but include the story that has made us laugh most this week. Read below to see what is happening at Old Spice. Also an extremely useful (and free) ‘selected findings’ document on our Measurement and ROI report. Enjoy!

Old Spice guy accepts Fabio’s challenge

Old Spice and their advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy must be having a great time coming up with the latest advertising for their male grooming products. First they delighted us with Mustafa and his smooth manly monologues, but recently fans have seen the introduction of a new character ‘Fabio’ in the commercials. Does this mean that Mustafa is out and blonde lion man is in? No! The storyline is heating us nicely as Fabio has challenged Mustafa to an internet duel…title ‘Mano a Mano en el Bano’. Read all about it here. Good example of keeping a campaign fresh.

HOW TO; Successfully Run a Social Media Contest

Four great points telling us the best ways to go about running online competitions or promotions. The main tips encourage us to understand the market right from the start, create a clear entry system, not to be fearful of understanding the legalities and actively and continuously engage, whilst learning from the process. Right then. Good luck!

Infographic; The Social Travel Revolution

Great images and stats from digitalbuzz blog. There has been a steadily growing link between travel and social media but this really brings home quite how strong that link has become. Last year 69% of all travel companies saw growth from Facebook and 72% of travellers now check their network accounts daily when abroad. Also growing in popularity is the trust in review sites such as TripAdvisor  and Quantcast.com. Checking sites on mobile phones while abroad is still unpopular, anyone who has received the bill when they come home will understand why…any ideas on when the networks will change this?

Location Based Gaming comes full circle

The merging of virtual gaming and physical locations has suddenly reached a whole new level. Read here to learn about the latest games, the imagination and creativity is outstanding. It seems that online and video games are actually getting people outside again! Some games such as the city geography game ‘Shadow Cities’ are fairly straight forward but others (e.g. ‘Paparazzi’), take a minute to get your head around. Poised for global success these concepts are about to explode, so make sure you are ahead of the craze by testing some out for yourself or linking to an existing idea. Any Corporates had any experiences so far?

Link-Like-Love Amex Acid Test

There are loads of daily deal sites in every city around the world. Perhaps you sign up for the newsletter, read the updates, print out the coupons, and get a great two for one deal at your local coffee shop. But what if there was no coupon? What if there was no printing? And what if the discount was credited back to your credit card account after you purchased the product? Our friends at Social Commerce Today want to fill in American Express cardholders and local businesses on a new program called Link-Like-Love, where rewards are based on your Facebook “likes” and check-ins. It’s beneficial for consumers, businesses, and the environment!
